All new planned release dates for PlayStation Plus announced

Sony has revealed target release dates for its brand new version of PlayStation Plus, and those in America are expected to be able to enjoy the new service on June 13th, 2022.

As detailed on the PlayStation.Blog, Asian markets (excluding Japan) will be the first to receive the new service as it is currently targeting May 23, 2022. Japan will be next on June 1st, followed by America on June 13th and then finally Europe on June 22nd.

The President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment also announced that PlayStation will expand its cloud streaming access to Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. These markets will also feature the premium tier of PlayStation Plus at launch.

This brand new version of PlayStation Plus will merge both PS Plus and PS Now into one three tier subscription service and will include up to 700 games and access to retro games at the highest premium tier.

The first tier is PlayStation Plus Essential and offers the same benefits as the current version of PlayStation Plus for the same price of $9.99/month. PlayStation Plus Extra is the next step up for $14.99/month, adding a catalog of up to 400 of “the most entertaining PS4 and PS5 games”.

New PlayStation Plus: Games confirmed so far

The PlayStation Plus Premium tier is the highest option and costs $17.99/month. In addition to all previous benefits, up to 340 games are added from PS1, PS2, PS3 (via cloud streaming) and PSP. This tier also offers time-limited trial versions of games.

However, unlike Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus will initially not offer first-party titles for the new service on the day of its launch.
