RTE viewers all said the same thing tonight as First Dates created a “cute momentum” for the country.
Four couples of different ages went out to dinner on the show and most of the dates went extremely well.
The first is farmer Julieann, 21, from Westmeath, who unleashes her animal magnetism on Luke, 23, – a real fisherman from a fishing village in Co Down.
She is looking for someone who “can both drink wine and at the same time pull a sheep to the lamb season”.
They go well together as Luke admits: “I like a red hair with red lipstick. That’s a big plus for me.”
Boldly filming the dating scene, Amanda, 55, from Clonmel tries to avoid breaking the rules in her romance with referee Sean, 56, from Carlow.
Amanda said: “I don’t think I’ve ever been in love.
“But I would love to think for some part of my life, that I’m going to find love, that I’m going to be in a relationship with someone who doesn’t have ‘ifs, buts or maybes’.
“This is the moment when I need to start taking chances and doing things for myself.
“This is the first time in my life that I live alone.”
And while the couple had a lovely time, things didn’t work out after their second date.
MARINA AND KORI
Sunny Marina, 30, from Clondalkin really shined in front of former figure skater Kori, 30 – a breath of fresh air from Portland Oregon.
Marina said before the date: “At this stage, I am very excited to meet someone new. I just want someone with an open mind.
“I have to be attractive, physically attractive, emotionally attractive and intellectually attractive. Those three must be there for me.”
The pair get along well, but Kori says they’re too similar to be romantic.
Marina is undaunted when she says: “emotions change.”
Hope to compose a small musical stage of their own; Ciara, 23, from Malahide, looks like a real-life Disney princess who has dated dance teacher and Disney soundtrack enthusiast Shane, 26, from Galway.
Those two see them as “old souls” looking for their happiness forever.
‘WHAT THE COUNTRY NEED’
RTE revealed that the couple is still together for now.
Fans at home fell in love with tonight’s show.
Denise said: “#FirstDatesIrl is a particularly welcome boost these days.”
Aoife added: “First date was great tonight. What the nation needs #firstdatesIRL.”
Sue wrote: “This is the lovely escapism I needed today #FirstDatesIRL.”
Will tweeted: “Nearly everyone on #FirstDatesIRL, from the very first show, was a service to the country. Love this show and love seeing good people on the phone!”
