Some viewers watching ITV’s new All Star Musicals show were quite flustered to see former Doctor Who star John Barrowman ahead of the singing competition.
All Star Musicals viewers were left feeling pretty flustered on Sunday night as John Barrowman hosted the new ITV show.
The 55-year-old TV presenter and actress opened the show by performing a song from the much-loved musical Grease, before going on to introduce the first celebrity contestant.
All Star Musicals is Barrowman’s first major television job since he was dropped from the Dancing on Ice jury.
The former Doctor Who star was famously replaced by former Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse on the panel of judges in 2022 after just two years on the show.
ITV did not confirm the reason for Barrowman’s departure, but the news was announced shortly after allegations of “inappropriate behavior on set” in early 2021.
As a result, some viewers were shocked to see Barrowman go back to their TV screens and preview another ITV show.
On Twitter, one person asked: “How is it that john barrowman is still doing this on itv but got fired for dancing on #AllStarMusicals.”
Another viewer echoed this and tweeted, “How did John Barrowman get this gig,” while a third simply wrote: “Barrowman?” along with an eye-rolling emoji.
Another added: “” Why is John Barrowman presenting this? Totally stupid decision, won’t watch. “
However, other viewers were happy to see John again with one person posting: “@JohnBarrowman Nice to see you again on our screens, John. And that blue suit is great! Welcome back , Mr. Entertainment! #AllStarMusicals @ITV.”
