YOUR iPhone just got a handy upgrade that makes typing a lot easier.

Apple has added haptic feedback to the Apple Keyboard, a much-requested feature that fans love.

That means whenever you touch a letter while typing on your iPhone, the display responds with a gentle vibration.

This vibration is a small “tap” that hits the tip of your finger to let you know you’ve hit a letter.

It’s a bit like a more tactile version of the “click” that sounds by default when you type on the Apple keyboard.

However, most people turn off this sound and it will automatically mute when your iPhone is in sleep mode.

Adding a haptic keyboard might not sound like much, but it makes typing smoother and more intuitive.

If you really master it, you can even type without looking at your device.

The new feature is one of several introduced Monday with the release of iOS 16, the latest version of the iPhone operating system.

How to activate the iPhone haptic keyboard

Before you can try the feature, you must first download iOS 16 by going to settings > General > software update.

Haptic keyboard feedback is disabled by default, so you’ll need to turn it on in—you guessed it—your device settings.

  1. Open settings.
  2. Beat sounds & haptics
  3. Under keyboard feedback Switch sound and haptics on.

Now when you press a letter on the Apple keyboard, you’ll hear a clicking sound and a haptic tap.

If you don’t like the sound that much, put your phone on vibrate or silent mode.

You can do this in settings or on newer iPhones by dragging the Alert slider on the left side of your device.

What is iOS 16?

Every year Apple releases a new version of its iOS software for iPhone.

This is the core operating system that powers the device and Apple’s delivers appFeatures and Themes on your iPhone.

This year’s new version is called iOS 16 and it’s packed with new features iPhone Features Users Have Been Waiting For.

This includes a new lock screen with widgets, stylized portrait wallpapers and notifications that roll up from the bottom.

Messages is also getting a major update, allowing you to edit or retrieve recently sent messages, as well as recover recently deleted messages or mark conversations as unread.

lockdown mode and security check are also new to the iPhone game, adding security features that protect users from online hacking and abuse.

How to get iOS 16

To try iOS 16 for yourself, you need to update your iPhone software.

Go to Settings > General > Software update.

You can then type Update to iOS 16 at the bottom of the screen and then Download and install.

On some iPhones you will be redirected Download and install automatically.

You’ll be prompted to enter your iPhone passcode (if you have one) and then agree to Apple’s terms of service.

The download and installation process takes up to an hour. So make sure you send all important messages before you start.
