Amazing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie poster portrays Mega Drive nostalgia

Paramount’s latest film about video games – Sonic the Hedgehog 2 – less than a month until the premiere. In an attempt to add a bit more hype to the project, the studio released a new trailer and (more importantly) a new poster for the film.

As you can see from the image embedded below and comparison at the header of this page, the staff at Paramount drew vintage Sonic art for inspiration for this piece. The poster design mimics old, vintage Genesis/Mega Drive Sonic 2 art, with Robotnik’s angry little face seething in the corner as Sonic and Tails stand smugly in the foreground. If you look closely, you’ll see Knuckles is also hiding in there.

You can also check out the new trailer for the movie – featuring Sonic, Tails and Doctor Robotnik and Idirs Elba as Knuckles all going wild on the Chaos Emerald – below.

“After settling into the Green Hills, Sonic is ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agree to leave him at home while they go on vacation,” reads the film’s synopsis.

“But, before long they were gone, as Dr. Robotnik returned, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search of an emerald with the power to build and destroy cultures. bright. Sonic teams up with his old companion, Tails, and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. “

If this makes you roll your eyes and reminisce about the ‘golden age’ of Sonic gaming, don’t worry: last year, Sega announced Sonic Origins – a compilation game that features Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, and CD Sonic. This is the first time we’ve seen a Sonic 3 re-release in a very long time, so it’s great to see the story beats get some love in the Sonic Expanded Universe (I don’t) I can’t believe I just wrote that).

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will hit the silver screen in April.
