WHATSAPP makes an ingenious change that allows you to use the app on multiple phones.
The chat app already works across laptops and desktops – but not for a second smartphone.
It’s a major overhaul for the very popular Meta-own chat app.
And it has long been requested by users who may have a spare cell phone.
For a long time only use was possible Whatsapp on a computer if your phone was online and connected.
But in November 2021, WhatsApp started offering users the ability to “link” devices..
This meant you could use the desktop version of WhatsApp even if your phone wasn’t available.
That still doesn’t work for someone using a second smartphone – you’re just stuck.
Now WhatsApp seems to be testing the possibility of connecting a second smartphone.
An image showing the change has appeared in a trial version of WhatsApp.
The surprising feature was uncovered by the detectives WABetaInfobrowsing WhatsApp’s beta testing app for upcoming changes.
The text reads: “Register device as a companion to use WhatsApp on another device.
“Open WhatsApp on your phone. Tap “Menu” or “Settings” and select “Linked Devices”.
“Point your phone at this screen to scan the code.”
There are really two catches.
The first is that it’s only useful if you’re lucky enough to own two phones.
And secondly, it is currently not available: it is being developed for the beta version of WhatsApp.
So you get access first when you’re accepted into the WhatsApp beta trial.
Otherwise you’ll have to wait until it’s available to the general public.
Depending on the development, this can take weeks, months or even years.
But if it continues, it would open the app to millions of additional devices.
