Online retail giant Amazon has joined supermarkets and high street chains including Aldi and Tesco in recalling dozens of chicken products over fears they could be tainted with salmonella.

Pret A Manger has also withdrawn all items containing chicken from its shelves, while supermarkets including Aldi and Sainsbury’s have pulled sandwiches, wraps and other chicken goods.

Waitrose and Marks and Spencer have also recalled chicken products over the salmonella fears.

Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps. It is not yet clear if anyone has been made ill by the bug from eating one of the products listed below.

If you’ve purchased one of the items that have been recalled, you should return it to your nearest store for a full refund.

For each of the products that have been pulled, only specific best before and use by dates are affected.

For all recent food recalls, you can check the Food Standards Agency and Trading Standards websites.

In a statement, the café chain said the risk of salmonella has been identified at one of its supplier’s sites.
