In documents filed with the Virginia Court of Appeals and obtained by the PA news agency, Mr. Heard’s attorneys said the trial court was “erroneous” on multiple occasions.

“The trial court erroneously refused to dismiss this lawsuit on the grounds that the forum was inconvenient, based on the erroneous conclusion that Depp’s allegations arose in Virginia because the Washington Post servers were located in Virginia. here,” the documents state.

The documents added: “This case should also never have gone to trial because another court concluded that Depp abused Heard on multiple occasions.”

The filing, made on November 23, comes less than a month after Depp filed an appeal against the court’s decision to award Ms Heard damages.

Ms Heard has been awarded two million dollars (£1.8m) in damages following her counterclaim, which alleges that she was defamed by one of Mr Depp’s lawyers, Adam Waldman .
