Amber Heard’s lawyers have stepped up their demand for a new trial in her multi-million dollar defamation case against Johnny Depp following claims of “inappropriate jury service.”
In the document filed on Friday, the Aquaman star’s legal team said that “newly discovered facts and information” about an individual juror meant that a mistake had to be declared.
The attorneys said that one of the individuals originally summoned to serve in the trial did not appear and was replaced by another.
“Jury 15 is not an individual summoned for jury duty on April 11, 2022, and is therefore not a member of the jury panel and cannot serve duly. to the jury at this trial,” documents reported by the PA news agency, stated.
The documents continue: “As the Court no doubt agrees, the fact that an individual is not summoned for jury duty but appears for jury duty and jury service, especially in a case like this.
“This is a high-profile case where the facts and jury trial date are clearly announced before and after the grand jury summons is issued.”
The lawyers added that Ms. Heard is entitled “to base the basic defense … that the jurors in this trial will be actual individuals summoned for jury duty.”

The lawyers concluded: “For all of the above reasons and in the original memorandum, Ms. Heard respectfully requests the court to declare a false case due to improper jury service in violation of her rights under the law. her proceedings, and request a new trial, and other action or relief if possible as appropriate. “
It comes after the actress’ legal team had previously filed a claim that the decision to be brought back on June 1 in Mr Depp’s favor was not supported by the evidence presented during the hearing. The trial lasted six weeks.
