American comedian Dave Chappelle attacked onstage during a stand-up show in LA

American comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked by a person who ran towards him while performing a live show in Los Angeles last night.

The Chappelle Show star was recording a Netflix special at the Hollywood Bowl when a man attacked the comedian, who narrowly escaped as he was thrown to the ground. Sky news reported.

People who attended the performance shared details of the incident on social media.

BuzzFeed Reporter Brianna Sacks said, “A man attacked and attacked Chappelle” as the show wound down.

In a series of tweets, Ms Sacks said the man who attacked Chappelle was “punched and kicked” by security forces after the incident.

Meanwhile, video on social media shows Mr Chappelle’s attacker being loaded into an ambulance with a badly damaged arm.

Another viewer posted a video after the incident, which appeared to show Chappelle joking: “‘It was a trans man’ who attacked him.

It comes as the comedian has been criticized for jokes he made that offended members of the trans community just last year.

US comedian Chris Rock, who was slapped by Will Smith at this year’s Oscars, also appeared at yesterday’s show.

After Chappelle was attacked, Rock came onstage and joked that the attacker was Will Smith. American comedian Dave Chappelle attacked onstage during a stand-up show in LA
