The England star was rallied by a passionate crowd in Manchester in his uncontrollable fight after a dazzling opening round.

Brook is particularly dominant from the fourth stage, where he can let go without Khan reacting to each stage.

The penalty paid off in the sixth inning when the umpire had no choice but to intervene after Brook unleashed powerful final shots to secure bragging rights.

Khan has great respect for the defeat and admits that he “didn’t expect” Brook to hit the box so well in the match and offered “no excuse”.

“There’s no reason for the better man to have won and he’s stripped from his skin,” says Khan. “I didn’t expect that from him, especially from the fights I’ve seen before.

“No disrespect to Kell, he put on a great performance today and he came out to win. At the end of the day we had rivalries but like I said after I punch them, we can become friends.

“He had a great performance and did everything it took. He was the best fit tonight. I had a great, great training camp, but I just couldn’t go on.

“I’ve been missing quite a bit. Kell went into his A-game, all respects go to him. “

Uncertainty currently surrounds Khan’s career as He will probably hang up his gloves at 35.
