A traveler says she and other angry passengers were “kicked out” from Leeds Bradford Airport when their flight to Belfast was cancelled.

Anna Wynd claims she missed her godson’s first birthday because she wasn’t allowed to return to the lounge to buy another plane ticket.

The 35-year-old told live in yorkshire that she and other passengers had cleared security and were at the boarding gate on Friday when the flight was canceled and told to depart.

Anna, from Morley, West Yorkshire, was upset that she wasn’t allowed to return to the lounge to book another flight.

She said she had to go all the way back to check-in after re-booking, where queues were already piling up. So she decided to cancel the trip, which meant she would miss her godson’s first birthday.

Anna, who works in HR, waited for hours for her flight to Belfast, which was due to leave at 11:30am, only to have Flybe cancel it at around 1pm.

She said: “I’m angry but I don’t have the energy to argue with anyone. I felt treated worse by the airport than by the airline. I’m so disappointed in them for kicking us out. I wish I hadn’t.” I have to go back to them, but I have no choice.

“I’m more annoyed that they wouldn’t let me back into the lounge so I could book another flight with another operator without going through check-in again.”

Anna says the whole situation was confusing even before she was told to leave, as at one point the departure board switched erratically between canceled and delayed. The 35-year-old claims he was guiding passengers to Gate 1.

Anna said: “Previously you could see on the screen that it said ‘cancelled’ but then all of a sudden it said ‘go to Gate 1’. We thought maybe there was just a glitch.

“Everyone just ran to Gate 1 and then we queued and finally when we got to the gate, only then did they tell me that the flight was cancelled. They said ‘sorry, your flight has been canceled and you have to leave the airport’.

“I asked if I could go back to the lounge but they said ‘No, please just go’. Then just let us out on arrival.”

Anna managed to get a refund from Flybe but also wants her fare to the airport paid. She’s also angry that she wasted a day of her annual vacation just to go to the airport and back home.

A Flybe spokesman said: “Flybe Ltd confirms that flight BE734 Leeds Bradford-Belfast City was unfortunately canceled on 10 June.

“Flybe has made every effort to accommodate customers and alternative flights have been offered for same day travel. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or difficulty this cancellation has caused.”

Leeds Bradford Airport has also been asked for comment.
