Andrea Bocelli releases Christmas album with son and daughter

Andrea Bocelli is teaming up with her son and daughter to release their first album together for Christmas.

itled A Family Christmas, it shows the Italian tenor, 63, collaborating with his son, Matteo, 24, and daughter Virginia, 10, on existing carnival favorites and songs new songs, with the album also featuring solo songs, duets and trio performances.

The first single, released on September 8, was The Greatest Gift, which featured all three family members and was a brand new song written and choreographed for the album.

This is Virginia’s first appearance on an album after she took to the stage with her father to perform Hallelujah in the 2020 Believe In Christmas concert, which was broadcast live from the Italian opera house Teatro Regio di Parma.

On A Family Christmas, she opened Away In A Manger and Over The Rainbow, and performed solo on When Christmas Comes To Town.

“We are making a small, intimate and heartfelt gift to anyone who wants to enjoy the Christmas soundtrack in the Bocelli house,” the family said.

Matteo followed in his father’s footsteps into the music world, starting a solo career after signing with Capitol Records in 2019.

He featured on Andrea’s 2018 album Si, a duet with his father, the song Fall On Me.

The pair sang a duet on the upcoming Christmas album for Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, and he sang with his sister Virginia in Happy Xmas (War Is Over), as well as ending the album with a solo performance of I’ll. Be Home For Christmas.

He said: “Singing these songs together, feeling the warmth of the holiday with family is something really special. That’s how Christmas is – creating memories together to cherish forever.

Andrea, who was part of the lineup for the BBC’s Platinum Party At The Palace concert this year, added: “I think there’s nothing more beautiful than making music with your kids, I consider it. is a privilege.”

The father-of-three returns to the UK and Ireland this month and in October with dates touring and performing in Dublin, London, Liverpool, Glasgow, Belfast, Birmingham and Sheffield.
