Andrea McLean insists she has no regrets about leaving Loose Women.
The presenter invited her back to the ITV set for the first time and she admits the return has been odd – although she insists she has no regrets about her decision to give up her role on the ITV show lunch time.
Andrea quit Loose Women in November 2020 after more than a decade leading the show, explaining her decision at the time as she admitted it was a “really big decision” for her.
And when she returned to ITV to discuss her new book, Andrea admitted that she felt very scared at the time.
Lorraine asked her if she “felt weird” coming back, to which she replied, “It’s the first time I’ve been back on TV and back in the room we shared with Loose. It’s a [brave decision] and the reason the whole book came out is because at the time so many people told me how brave you were to do that, pivot.
“And all I kept thinking was I didn’t feel brave, I felt really scared but that’s just what I really needed to do. And then I thought, yeah, how can I be callous? everything i’ve ever done a brave thing when i felt scared and i put together a 10 day challenge to my lovely community and then saw the results and it gave me courage .”
Back in November 2020, Andrea confirmed her exit during a live show.
“I want to put myself out there, see what the universe has to offer to help as many women as possible, in any way possible, but now with my website, all the love and effort I’m putting in. Focusing on that, that will be my focus,” she said of her future plans, bringing her co-stars to tears during the announcement.
She described her decision to leave daytime TV as “brave” but feared she would have to sell her home.
She added: “Leaving a job that you’ve had for two decades and that’s all you’ve ever really known, to completely turn right and do something very different, is an experience. Very emotional as well as very realistic.
“We sat down and said, ‘What’s the worst that could happen?’ Yeah, I never made a dime. We’ll have to sell the house. We might have to sell the kids, maybe the dog!”
