Andrew Crofts says the new Brighton boss will have an exciting task

The search for a replacement for head coach Graham Potter is underway following his departure to Chelsea.

Former midfielder Andrew Crofts remains in charge on an interim basis with a backup team including Adam Lallana.

But the search for a more permanent manager or head coach will intensify this week.

Albion’s game at Bournemouth on Saturday has been canceled and they don’t play until October 1 when they visit Liverpool.

Club chairman Tony Bloom and his deputy Paul Barber will have been inundated with a string of high-profile candidates.

This is only the second time you have been called up to the first team in almost eight years.

Crofts said: “I think it’s a shock that it doesn’t happen all that often for a Brighton manager to go to Chelsea.

“I think that’s because of the work done by Graham and his staff and ultimately because of what the players have delivered.

“I think it’s a unique group in terms of what they’ve built and the characters and relationships within the group.

“And it’s a special time at the club for so many different reasons.

“Graham and his staff going to Chelsea are just summarizing what has been done.

“Whoever goes next comes into a football club that’s in such a great place and such an exciting club.” Andrew Crofts says the new Brighton boss will have an exciting task
