Andrew Crofts will help Roberto de Zerbi settle in Brighton

Andrew Crofts will play a role in helping Roberto De Zerbi settle in Albion.

The new head coach and his staff arrive at the club’s lancing base today.

Crofts, the former skipper and now U21 head coach, has been in charge of the first team on an interim basis.

Albion CEO and vice-chairman Paul Barber said De Zerbi would get help with the settlement.

But the club’s top men have been very impressed by how much De Zerbi already knows about the players he will inherit as Graham Potter’s successor.

Barber told TalkSPORT today: “Andrew Crofts has worked with the first-team during this transition period and has been with the club for a long time, both as a player and as the coach of our U21s.

“Andrew will also be working with Roberto when he comes in.

“He (De Zerbi) will bring a small group. People he has worked with before who speak English he trusts.

“They will all be new to the Premier League, of course, as will Graham and his staff.

“This is the adjustment period we need to make.

“The staff we put around him, the lads who know the rhythms and routines of the Premier League, the way we prepare our players for games, the training routines, they’re all still here.

“So are the video analysts who prepare us for games, prepare the coaches for games. All these people are still here.

“It’s certainly never easy to replace six people at once, but luckily we have a very stable group of people around the first team who will still be here and will be here waiting for Roberto this afternoon.” Andrew Crofts will help Roberto de Zerbi settle in Brighton
