Andrew Lloyd Webber to bring his Cinderellas to Broadway

Andrew Lloyd Webber bids farewell to his last remaining show on Broadway and welcomes a new one.

The musical theater icon announced on Monday that his remastered version of Cinderella will land at the Imperial Theater in New York in February, complete with new songs, a new leading lady and a new title.

Bad Cinderella – who borrows the title from a key song on the show rather than using the London West End’s Cinderella name – will play Linedy Genao in the title role.

She has had ensemble roles in Dear Evan Hansen and On Your Feet!

Carrie Hope Fletcher played the title character in London.

Lord Lloyd-Webber hopes his fairy tale ends better on Broadway than in London, where Cinderella closed less than a year after opening and suffered heavy losses, particularly as Covid-19 derailed its run.

The stage musical features a brand new score by Lord Lloyd-Webber with a book by Emerald Fennell and lyrics by David Zippel. JoAnn M Hunter choreographed directed by Laurence Connor.

Lord Lloyd-Webber is finishing his The Phantom Of The Opera on Broadway in 2023.

A Broadway staple since 1988, it closes on February 18, the day after previews of Bad Cinderella begin, meaning a Lord Lloyd Webber musical has been performed on Broadway every night since September 1979. Andrew Lloyd Webber to bring his Cinderellas to Broadway
