Andrew Moran scores as Brighton Under-21s lose at Colchester

Andrew Moran scored for Albion U21s but they suffered defeat in the Papa John’s Trophy.

Two late goals gave Colchester United a 2-1 win in the first game of the group.

Albion led at the break after Moran finished off a good work by Cam Peupion in the 43rd minute.

It stayed that way until Frank Nouble buried the rebound after Bez Lubala’s low shot was saved in the 80th minute.

Evan Ferguson almost restored the Albion lead before Freddie Sears hit Colchester’s late winner from the rebound when Nouble hit the post.

Albion opted for a fully under-21 team rather than giving playing time to an older player.

Peupion, the Australian wideman, hit the post in the first minute.

Albion: Beadle, Offiah (Packham 77), Turns, Tsoungui, Furlong, Spong, Peupion, Hinshelwood, Moran, Chouchane (Ifill 84), Ferguson.
