Andy Serkis never feels like his job when Gollum is done

Andy Serkis talked about the process of portraying Gollum in an interview with Seattle Pacific University Magazine, describing it as “a very demanding role.” Not only is it “physically exhausting and mentally tiring,” says Serkis, but “psychologically… taxing,” says Serkis. “And on a technical level, the other actors, whenever they finish a shot at the end of the day, they know that their final performance was satisfactory. It’s over 35 millimeters, and that’s it. .”

When it comes to Serkis’ performance, it doesn’t end when the cameras stop rolling, as he will explain:

“But for me, it was like, I was acting and doing the scene. When you shoot a scene, it’s like you’ve put a pin in the character’s graph and you can build from that. For me , it’ll be like two years before the final scene is finished, because there’s a lot of process involved between the two.”

Andy Serkis will not have the comfort of traditional actors when shooting a scene. While anything captured on camera becomes an end for an ordinary actor, Serkis is introduced to what has to be spent two years worrying about whether his work in any of the series will be. Is the movie “Lord of the Rings” completed?

“There’s going to be motion capture and then revisiting it, then working with the animators and doing more songs. There’s never been a moment when I’m gone, Bang! I’ve got the scene. turn.”
