Roberto De Zerbi says there is more to come from Leandro Trossard after his hat-trick at Anfield.
He then secured a 3-3 draw at the far post after the hosts regained the lead.
He left the court with match point as de Zerbi’s tenure as head coach began sensationally.
The Italian said: “Trossard is a star, a very good player.
“When he was away with the national team, I sent him a message that he needed to increase the number of goals.
“I hope he didn’t finish the shot today.
“He played a great game. He scored two fantastic goals, the first two.
“He scores a very good goal because he was present at long psot.
“But I think he can do better.
“If I say that, it’s not because I’m not happy with him today.
“But that’s because I think he’s a great, great player.”
When asked about his emotions after the draw, De Zerbi said he was “tired”.
He added: “I’m happy with this game. We played a very good game, we could have scored more goals, but we’re playing at Anfield.
“It’s my first game in the Premier League but I know Anfield, I know how difficult it is at this stadium.”
