Angie Best calls Wagatha Christie’s trial ‘sad’

Angie Best accused Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney of “their ego being their best” as a defamation trial – known as Wagatha – broke out this week.

The WAGs have been worried since then accusing Jamie Vardy’s wife of leaking ‘false stories’ about her private life in October 2019.

Rebekah, 40, denies the charges and is suing Coleen for libel damages over a ‘false and baseless defamation attack’.

As Coleen and Rebekah prepare to face each other at the High Court again on day three of the £2million trial, former WAG Angie – who is married to George Best and is the mother of Callum Best – and Attorney Jonathan Coad appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss the case.

Acknowledging that she thought the case was a waste of court time, Angie told hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard: “Of course they have the right to voice their grievances but I just think that It’s sad that things have gone this far And if these two girls can’t fix it in the playground you have to go to the principal’s office, I suppose!

“They’re lucky enough to be privileged to be able to do this, but I just think their ego has made them better.”

Susanna then asked Jonathan: “We’re hearing a lot of dirty laundry in that trial and the only people that benefit are the attorneys – as an attorney, isn’t that so?”

“In many ways, I am sorry to say, and I can act on behalf of most attorneys,” he replied. “It’s always been a big risk for Rebekah Vardy because she’s going to be tested very thoroughly and that process is going to bring a lot of dirt out and that’s really what’s happening.

“So I’m afraid it’s an exercise in protecting her reputation, but things aren’t going so well right now.”

The trial continues today.
