ARSENAL fans went wild when Burnley’s Ashley Westwood escaped a red card after a horror ‘stamping’ on Kieran Tierney.
When the two teams drew 0-0 at the Emirates, Clarets midfielder Westwood rushed in to attack left-back Tierney.
The replay revealed a knee-high split but somehow only secured a reservation.
The Gooners – who have seen three red cards against them this season – were booked after Westwood’s foul and afterwards.
One said: “Ashley Westwood stamped Kieran Tierney’s calf, but luckily for him he is wearing a Burnley shirt and not Arsenal’s, so a yellow card is considered sufficient.”
Another said: “Westwood is very lucky, didn’t hurt my man, Tierney.”
One added: “Why isn’t that a red card for Westwood? Deliberately following and stepping on Tierney.”
Another added: “Westwood foul with Tierney = yellow card. Xhaka? Your prediction was as good as mine.”
Arsenal have had to go through an incredible disciplinary record this year with Gabriel, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey all red in the face.
Gabriel was sent off for two bookable offenses in in Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City on new year’s day
afterward Xhaka’s crazy moment at Liverpool saw him pick up a consecutive red card after knocking out Diego Jota in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg.
Partey was sacked in the second leg while the Gunners took a 2-0 lead and rounded off a poorly disciplined start to 2022 for Mikel Arteta’s side.
