Angry mother criticizes McDonald’s and Just Eat because the children’s birthday party was “ruined” by the lack of an order

An angry mum has hit out at McDonald’s and Just Eat for ruining her birthday daughter’s birthday after they failed to deliver nearly £50 worth of food.

Mamara Beardmore’s daughter Ebony-Grace Lawrence was left in tears after the £44.77 order of Chicken McNuggets, Double Quarter Pounders and a Big Mac didn’t arrive.

The Stafford family made the big order at the restaurant through Just Eat to celebrate the young girl’s third birthday.

After placing the order and waiting for more than an hour, Mamara checked the Just Eat app to find out that the order was delivered to her home.

She went outside to look for the food while the children waited eagerly inside but could not find anything, StokeOnTrent Live Reports.

The angry mum says she called the restaurant and was told to go to the nearby Golden Arches branch to pick up her order.

But Mamara, unable to drive or book a taxi, sent her father to the store to pick up food for the children’s party.

But things weren’t that easy and she was upset again after her father was told he had to pay for the entire order – once again.

Mamara, 32, said: “I told them I paid for my meals and didn’t get them.

“I had kids waiting for food and I explained it was my little girl’s birthday.

“They said if I came down and picked up the order we could get the meals.

“My dad said he would get her, so I called the restaurant to let them know I had sent someone to get her.

“But they turned around and said we had to pay for a new order and then they’d throw in some extras too.

“I said I already had no bag because I hadn’t eaten and they had my money.

“I had hungry kids and my daughter told me her birthday was ruined and then they told me I had to pay again or I wouldn’t get it. I was so angry.”

After feeling hungry, Mamara paused the party and sent her guests home without a meal before spending another £40 on a snack for her own children.

After filing a complaint with McDonald’s headquarters, two coupons were mailed to her.

Mamara has also filed a complaint with Just Eat about the inconvenience.

She added: “Money is tight anyway so there’s no way I paid another £47.77 for new meals.

“This delivery lady picked up the order, said she delivered it, but it didn’t arrive.

“I was angry, frustrated and upset. It was what my daughter asked for, it was her birthday and I did it for her.

“I made her cry because she kept telling me she wanted to go to McDonald’s. It took 40 minutes to calm her down.

“The other kids went home hungry and it was awkward to explain to their parents. I think McDonald’s handled it appallingly.

“As a single parent and with the cost of living rising, it wasn’t money that I could throw away.”

A Just Eat has apologized for the inconvenience and said: “At Just Eat we want our customers to always have a positive experience when ordering their food online.

“Whenever a customer is unhappy with their order, we will always take action to rectify it. We are sorry to hear that the customer’s experience in this case fell short of the high standards we hope to deliver.

“We can confirm that we have already processed a refund for the customer and we are investigating what happened to this order.”

A McDonald’s spokesperson added: “At McDonald’s we have set ourselves high standards and we are sorry that they were not met on this occasion.

“As soon as the customer brought this to our attention, we apologized and explained that the customer should contact Just Eat to find a solution.

“Our customer service team offered the customer £20 vouchers as a goodwill gesture which were accepted and we know Just Eat refunded the full cost of the meal.”
