Animal worker Brit describes ‘strange silence’ in haunting final photo before she washes away her dogs by Tongan tsunami

A final HAUNTING photo was posted by a British woman, who was feared washed away with her dogs during the tsunami that hit Tonga.

Angela Glover, 50, wrote of a “strange silence” before 4ft waves crashed over the waterfront home where she was staying with husband James.

He was able to cling to a tree but Angela – who runs a dog sanctuary – was swept out to watch with her 5 dogs.

She was last seen clinging to debris floating with animals when a huge body of water poured back into the sea and has not been seen since.

Her heartbroken brother says he fears the worst and that it is now more a case of “finding her body” than finding her alive.

Just hours earlier, she had posted a photo of a terrifying red sunset over Tonga following the volcanic eruption that led to the tsunami.

“We got a tsunami warning today…everything is fine…a few highlights….some eerie silence,” she wrote.

With power cut to the Pacific islands, officials are still trying to gauge the casualties and damage numbers caused by the tsunami.

Sources say her tattoo artist husband James was distraught when a huge wall of water swept over the house they were staying about 100 meters from shore.

Nick Eleini, Angela’s brother, who lives in Sydney, said hopes of finding her alive had dwindled.

“But I hope, that’s all I can do,” he told 1News of New Zealand

“James was able to cling to a tree for quite a long time.

“I don’t know if Angela was washed away immediately or if she was washed away afterwards.”

He describes his sister as a “great, fun girl” who is loved by the locals and loves the culture.

“She really hugs it, she loves the Song family, she just thinks they are great people. She really grew up in the Tongan way of life. “

Nick told The Guardian His sister was swept away along with four or five dogs she was walking with at the time.

She and her husband were staying at a house on the west coast of the island when the tsunami struck.

He said: “One of the dogs has been found, but Angela has not been found.

“So terrible. I can’t even believe the words that are coming out of my mouth, to be honest. ”

Angela started a new life in Veitongo, Tonga five years ago after she gave up a high-growth career as a TV commercial producer.

She gave up the rat race to help run Happy Sailor tattoo parlor with her husband while running her animal assistant project in a heavenly setting.
