Anker’s new double-thick MagSafe battery is all about the mAh

If you’ve caught a glimpse of the first wave of modular, magnetic, cordless charging battery trays for the iPhone and thought, “Wake me up if they give us more than a full load!” – then Anker might have the battery pack for you. The new Anker 633 Magnetic Battery, available now on Amazon for $80, has twice the capacity at 10,000 mAh. According to Anker (via gizmodo).

As you can see, fashion attempts have gone out the window – no fancy colors or fancy origami stands from Anker this time. Instead, this useful battery has a traditional fold-out stand and what appears to be an extra USB-A port, as well as Qi wireless charging. If you want faster charging than the 7.5W Qi Pad offers, you can plug a USB-C cable between the USB-C port and your phone for 20W PD charging.

Apple recently updated its own original MagSafe battery, which also supports 7.5W wireless charging (starting at 5W), although this pack doesn’t have anywhere near the capacity of this pack, and we’re waiting to find out if the faster charging speed makes it hotter in use. Apple’s official package Also doubles as a 15W MagSafe wired passthrough chargerhowever — something that Anker’s technically non-MagSafe device is almost certainly won’t be able to.
But if you’re looking for something that primarily lives on a desk, both OtterBox and Anker sell magnetic battery packs that attach to a charging station when they’re not in town with you.
We’re not sure why Anker lists this one as “Anchor 633” on Amazon when it already has it an “Anker 633 Magnetic Wireless Charger” that includes a smaller battery. We’re asking the company now.
