“Annual bank holiday in June for Queen Elizabeth II would be a fitting tribute” – Voice of the Mirror

Millions celebrated the platinum anniversary over the weekend thanks to many who worked – an annual day off to honor the Queen would be well deserved

Well, that was a platinum jubilee.

The Queen, who delighted revelers with another appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, sealed four days of celebration for many, if not all, Brits.

When the UK has fewer bank holidays than most comparable companies, with only a miserable eight in England and Wales, the case for a ninth is unanswerable in their memory.

Yesterday’s story of Britain during her lifetime was funny and eccentric and perfectly captured the spirit of our nation.

Everyone shaped it in their own way, and we must honor the millions who worked so others could enjoy their days off, whether by staying at home, hitting the pub, shopping or attending a street festival.

It is highly unlikely that history’s first platinum anniversary will be repeated in our lifetime, so an Elizabeth Bank Holiday would be well-deserved every June.

push him out

Slipperier than fish and only concerned for himself, Boris Johnson must be kicked out of Downing Street because the liar will never give up.

Tribal and spineless Conservative MPs defending and protecting the most dishonest prime minister in living memory are just as bad as him and share the condemnation heaped on a chancellor who puts himself before party and country.

The fools justifying Johnson are just as deluded as the mob behind America’s monster, Donald Trump. They will go down in history as evil villains.

The holidays were ruined for many this half year

If there’s anything worse than finding your holiday flight cancelled, it has to be the trip home being scrapped – and leaving you stranded in a foreign country.

Airlines and travel companies selling trips they don’t deliver are a scandal.

The government has an obligation to force them to start delivering the goods immediately and if they don’t do so, it must increase the fines to a punitive level.
