Another couple were released from the Love Island villa a day before the finale of the ITV reality show.
In Sunday’s episode, contestants discovered who the public wanted to save from elimination after four couples were put at risk after the islanders voted for what they felt to be the least compatible couples.
Paige Thorne and Adam Collard received the fewest votes from the public, meaning they narrowly missed out on the grand finale tonight, August 1st.
That leaves Brighton’s Luca Bish and Gemma Owen, Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti, Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page, and Indiyah Pollack and Dami Hope to fight to be crowned the winners of Love Island 2022 and the prize of 50,000 £ to take home .
After her departure, Paige said she wasn’t disappointed at missing out on the finals and that she was fired up for Dami and Indiyah to win.
At the beginning of the episode, the contestants were briefly reunited with some of their friends and family while visiting the mansion.
Former England striker Michael Owen didn’t come to see his daughter Gemma, but his wife Louise revealed his thoughts on her time on the show.
After Gemma asked what her dad thought about how she treated herself, Louise told her: “Honestly he’s really proud of you, really proud.”
Her mum also admitted she voted for Luca, 23, to be with her on day one.
However, her friend Sarah, who was also visiting, admitted a photo was circulating on social media in which Luca bore a striking resemblance to Michael Owen.
When the families met, Luca’s mother, Maria, said she loves Gemma’s “values and morals” and that the couple shared the same banter.
While fishmonger Luca’s father Michael, who arrived in his own fish-style flip-flops, told his son that Gemma was “making them straight”.
The Love Island finale will be broadcast on ITV2 and the ITV Hub on August 1 at 9pm.
