Anton replaced him last year, joining Craig, Motsi Mabuse, 40, and Shirley Ballas, 61, on the panel – while Bruno remained a judge on Dancing with the Stars in the US.

And there was another new judge on last year’s show, with singer Cynthia Erivo, 35, a guest judge on the two occasions Craig and Motsi tested positive for Covid.

The Mirror has approached representatives of Bruno Tonioli and Anto Du Beke as well as the BBC for comment.

It happened when Shirley’s chief judge earnestly begged the BBC boss to keep Anton on the panel.

Shirley is desperate to let Anton stay and is determined to make a jury of five, with her, Bruno, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse, when the show returns in the fall.

She said: “I hope Anton stays, but we can have five seats. I just did the tour with Bruno and he’s on the right track and in form.

“There is no one like Bruno. He is a force to be reckoned with.”

And after the debut of the pro lineup for this year’s series, fans are delighted.

Nadiya Bychkova, Katya Jones and 2021 series winner Giovanni Pernice will all return to the popular dance show later this year.

Following the departures of Oti Mabuse and Aljaž Škorjanec – who both recently revealed they would be quitting the show – the strict bosses have yet to add any new professionals to the lineup.
