This comes after the Irish singer Imelda May asks “when are women safe” after the brutal Ashling murder.
Celebrities offered their condolences to the Ashling family on social media today as they called for better safety for women.
Imelda shared her thoughts on the brutal assault as well as talking about recent attacks on women.
ImelDA’s TRIBUTE
The Dublin singer mentioned in the tweet Fiona Pender, who went missing in Tullamore in 1996.
She said: “Women need to be safe from attack. We need to run in safety, not constantly run from danger.
“Justice for Ashling Murphy… Fiona Pender, the list goes on…
“My thoughts are with Aisling’s family today.”
Imelda’s follow-up tweet read: “Ashling Murphy, a 22-year-old teacher, was brutally murdered by a stranger as she ran along Fiona’s Way in Tullamore named after Fiona Pender, a heavily pregnant 25-year-old who disappeared in the local area in 1996.
“When will women be at peace?????”
