Apple acknowledges bizarre iPhone bug plaguing users – how to fix it

APPLE has announced it is getting to the bottom of an unusual bug plaguing iPhones around the world.

The bug results in repeated prompts from devices to allow copying and pasting from the same apps.

This is believed to be the result of a bug with iOS 16, the latest version of the iPhone operating system.

One of the additions brought about by the update is that apps must now ask permission before using anything on the iPhone clipboard.

This is the tool to copy and paste text and images between apps or between different apps on the phone.

A sample message reads: “Messages would like to be pasted from Safari. Do you want to allow this?”

Users can then choose either “Allow paste” or “Don’t allow paste”.

According to multiple posts on Reddit, some iOS 16s get repeated copy and paste requests from the same apps.

It’s little more than an annoying bug that makes using some affected apps a bit tedious.

In an email shared with MacRumors, Apple Senior Manager Ron Huang confirmed the issue.

He explained that the permissions prompts thrown when trying to copy and paste are “absolutely unexpected behavior”.

Huang added that Apple “will get to the bottom of it.”

The Wall Street Journal reports that the clipboard bug will be fixed in a software update coming next week.

What is iOS 16?

Messages is also getting a major update, allowing you to edit or retrieve recently sent messages, as well as recover recently deleted messages or mark conversations as unread.

lockdown mode and security check are also new to the iPhone game, adding security features that protect users from online hacking and abuse.

How to get iOS 16

To try iOS 16 for yourself, you need to update your iPhone software.

Go to Settings > General > Software update.

You can then type Update to iOS 16 at the bottom of the screen and then Download and install.

On some iPhones you will be redirected Download and install automatically.

You’ll be prompted to enter your iPhone passcode (if you have one) and then agree to Apple’s terms of service.

The download and installation process takes up to an hour. So make sure you send all important messages before you start.
