APPLE has released a brand new app dubbed “Infinite Canvas” that you and your friends can use at the same time.
Freeform is a virtual whiteboard tool that just landed on iPhone, iPad, and Mac — and it’s completely free.
You can drag in photos or files, draw and annotate with your finger or Apple Pencil, and add links and notes.
It’s ideal for creative brainstorming and collaboration, especially in the age of working from home.
Everything is synced via iCloud.
And up to 100 people can take part in one screen.
Of course, other Apple staples like Messages and FaceTime are also heavily integrated.
While it’s welcomed by geeks, some say that Freeform has one minor downside – the fact that it’s exclusive to Apple devices only.
“They absolutely should have a web version like ALL collab apps out there,” wrote one person on reddit.
“Seems like the right approach should have been a web/android version used as marketing to lure people to Apple with the premise of tapping into their ecosystem,” said another.
“It will benefit organizations that are fully committed to Apple,” added a third.
However, you can export the canvas as a PDF, which can be useful.
Apple first teased Freeform in June during its WWDC show.
“Freeform opens up endless visual collaboration opportunities for iPhone, iPad and Mac users,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
“With an infinite canvas, support for uploading a wide range of files, iCloud integration, and collaboration features, Freeform creates a shared brainstorming space that users can take anywhere.”
Freeform is part of iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 rolling out to devices today.
Mac users can access it as long as they have Ventura 13.1.
