Apple services like Maps, App Store and iCloud are down in a major global outage

APPLE suffered a major global outage lasting more than four hours on Monday after what appeared to be server problems.

Thousands of users have reported problems with the tech giant’s Apple Maps, Apple Music and several other apps and websites.

The outage was worldwide, with users in both the US and UK experiencing issues.

According to Apple system status side, the tech giant has now fixed server issues with all of its services.

It had previously confirmed outages affecting the App Store, Apple Arcade, Apple Business Manager, Apple Music, iCloud, iTunes, Apple TV and more.

down detector also highlighted issues with other popular apps like Apple Maps, iMessage, and Apple Find my iPhone.

The problems seemed to stem from Apple’s servers.

Some users received this error message: “A server with a specified hostname could not be found.”

If you click on some of the affected services on Apple’s System Services page, a message now appears that reads: “Some users were affected.

“Users have encountered an issue with this service. We have investigated and fixed this issue.”

For services like Apple Arcade and iCloud, a new alert says, “This service may have been slow or unavailable.”

We reached out to Apple for comment.

Many people have complained about Apple services being down on Twitter.

Users seemed particularly concerned that Apple Maps was not available.

One frustrated user tweeted: “I’m assuming the server for Apple Maps is down because I keep trying to enter the address for my next visit to the site and it says the server is down.

“I think I’ll use Waze to get there.”

Another wrote: “Apparently iMessage is down because nobody can send media.. apple? what’s happening”.

Another person joked: “How does Apple Maps work? This is absolutely ridiculous. No more ridiculous than not being able to navigate the city without a GPS, but still RIDICULOUS!”

Another user claimed that Apple employees were struggling to do their jobs because the systems were down.

Twitter user @michael_billig posted a photo apparently taken at an Apple Store today and wrote, “Apple Store systems are down and they’re literally doing everything on paper lol.”

Apple users started reporting problems on Downdetector around 12:00 PM ET (4:00 PM GMT).

The outage also sparked a slew of memes as Apple users struggled to access their favorite apps.
