Apple slams Mark Zuckerberg’s ‘Metaverse Tax’ plan to deduct HALF all virtual world revenue as ‘hypocrisy’

APPLE has defended itself against Facebook owner Meta for its plan, a huge hunk earned revenue in the metaverse.
Mark Zuckerberg’s tech empire will earn a massive 47.5 percent of sales on its Horizon Worlds platform, with the rest going to the user.
Now Apple has joined the wave of anger, calling the move “hypocrisy.”
That’s because Meta has previously been critical of the iPhone maker’s own commission fees.
“Meta has repeatedly targeted Apple for charging developers a 30% commission for in-app purchases on the App Store — and has used small businesses and developers as scapegoats at every turn,” Apple rep Fred Sainz said market observation.
“Well – Meta tries to charge the same developers significantly more than any other platform.
“[Meta’s] Announcement exposes Meta’s hypocrisy.
“It shows that while they’re trying to use Apple’s platform for free, they’re happy to benefit from the developers and small businesses using their own.”
The social networking giant charges a 30% hardware platform fee when you sell virtual assets through the Meta Quest Store.
On top of that, there’s a 17.5% fee on sales made in Horizon Worlds.
Before Apple spoke up, Meta’s Horizon boss Vivek Sharma said The edge: “We think it’s a pretty competitive price in the market.
“We believe that the other platforms can have their share.”
Zuckerberg, 37, is reportedly considering launching his own Metaverse currency, dubbed Zuck Buck.

It would come in the form of digital coins and tokens that can be spent in the virtual world.
Meanwhile, Apple is rumored to be planning its own Metaverse effort, with a virtual headset set to show up in 2023.
