The Apprentice’s Akeem Bundu-Kamara has a celebrity friend from BBC Breakfast who backed him up to win the show.
The reality game show returns tonight with sixteen new contenders hoping to land a £250,000 investment in their business idea and a 50/50 partnership with Lord Alan Sugar.
One person to look forward to is the 29-year-old strategy director Akeem, bandmates with BBC Breakfast star Gavin Ramjaun.
The journalist, 40, attributes his friend to having what it takes to win the contest down to how “talented” and “directed” he is.
Gavin recently told Daily Star: “He’s a talented, young, hard-working guy – and most importantly I respect his ethos as a black business operating in the world of bodybuilding.”
“Can’t wait to see what he does!”
Newsreaders covered shows like Newsround, Sportsround, BBC Breakfast and Daybreak.
Akem works as a chief strategy officer for a financial firm in the capital for his day-to-day work, but he’s also the founder of sustainable sportswear brand Lockr Space.
And Gavin popped up on Lockr Space’s Instagram with a Colter & Roe-branded t-shirt.
Presenters love what Akeem stands for.
Gavin added: “Akeem is a good friend of mine, I guess from our common goal of how sport can change lives for the better in terms of mental health.”
Akem’s company says it was created to provide “a space where any sportswear brand can have their own unique Lockr to showcase their products”.
The aspiring businessman is excited to participate in the show’s sixteenth series.
“My upbringing has made me who I am. I can talk to people, but I can also show that business, financial side to myself,” says Akem.
