ArcheAge is adding a matchmaking break penalty, battle balance adjustments, and the switch reset tag

The second 2022 update for ArcheAge is here, and the team has told us what to expect in this spring update. There’s a combat balance adjustment, new Swift Blades and Sestrel abilities, some daily quest improvements, and arena content too.

When it comes to skill balance adjustments, community feedback has been critical to their plans. One thing the team does is analyze which effective abilities weren’t being used very often by players and improve those to make them feel more necessary. They also lower the balance of some other highly efficient and well-used abilities.

There are two new abilities for the Swiftblade. With the Swiftblade, it’s a class built for combinations. Due to the need to use so many combos, it can be a bit difficult to play or control. So they’re trying to reduce player fatigue by changing certain skills and thereby making them continuous so you don’t have to switch as quickly.

The team is also working on introducing a matchmaking abandonment penalty. Frustrated players seeing cancellations gave a lot of feedback, so this will come in the April 21st update. If a player is penalized for canceling, access to the arena will be restricted while the penalty lasts.

Some quality of life changes are coming, also in this update. The weekly quest reset day change is still pending for community feedback and they will start gradually changing a few to other days to see if that reduces fatigue. That ArcheAge The team will first increase the rewards for the current content before considering eventually scrapping it and replacing it with something more interesting or rewarding. They also plan to improve the drill camp arena, including considering whether it should be open 24 hours a day or if that would just spread out the requirements enough that players can’t find groups.
