Why did FIFA 22 crash?

The outage is the result of planned maintenance work on the game’s servers, according to EA Sports, the maker of the FIFA games.

When game makers significantly improve their services, they often shut down servers for a few hours to make the changes.

The tactic is regularly used by FIFA and Fortnite maker Epic Games.

EA said it expects the scheduled maintenance to last from 7am to 10am UK time (2am to 5am EST).

“During this time, you may be disconnected or unable to access online services and modes, including FUT,” EA said.

Every game in the franchise released since FIFA 15 is affected across all platforms.

When did FIFA 22 fail?

FIFA 22 fans are unable to play the game’s popular Ultimate Team mode this morning after it was hit by an outage that lasted for hours.
According to online outage trackers, the popular football simulator went down around 7am UK time (2am EST).

Reports on social media indicate that players are unable to connect to FIFA Ultimate Team due to the downtime.

Screenshots shared online show an error message that appears when people try to connect to online multiplayer.
The message reads: “Sorry, there was an error connecting to FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. You will be redirected to the FIFA 22 main menu.”

Hundreds of people reported the problem to the DownDetector website, which monitors online outages.

Half of these reports point the finger at server issues, while 39 percent of the complaints involve the game’s login system. Frustrated FIFA fans bemoaned the unexpected failure on Twitter.
One person tweeted a screenshot of the error message with the caption, “Bro wtf is going on fifa is my life I don’t know what to do without FIFA.”
Another said: “FIFA 22 servers are down.”
