Dame Arlene Phillips proudly waved flags to elderly women on prime time TV after her guest joined the show Dancing on the ice Judges.
The 78-year-old star said: “We need to be represented on television.
“Otherwise, older women will disappear from the important time.”
She says it’s important for older women to participate in shows “that everyone sees regularly with young people.”
It took place after Dame Joan Collins completed her role in The Hidden Singer at the age of 88.
Arlene said: “She’s the eternal queen of glamor and it was a pleasure to see her on the show.” Along with Dancing on Ice, Arlene is directing the UK tour The Cher Show, which opens in April.

She said she didn’t want to think about old age, explaining: “I just wanted to get on with my life and see where it took me. I was perhaps strangely young and stupid. Your brain doesn’t seem to grow with age.”
Despite being young, Arlene is not afraid to be invited to sit on the Tube.
She explained: “As soon as I walked on the Tube, three people would stand up for me! It always makes me smile, and I say, ‘Thank you’ and sit down. “
