Armagh star Rian O’Neill has opted for Donegal in the Ulster Championship after the ban was lifted

Armagh’s Rian O’Neill has lifted his one-game ban and is allowed to play Donegal in the Ulster quarter-finals at Ballybofey next week.
‘Neill’s proposed suspension comes following an investigation by the Central Competition Controls Committee into a hand-to-hand fight that developed at the end of their game with Donegal at Letterkenny in the last round of the league last month.
Five players were identified on match report by referee Paddy Neilan and faced with proposed one-match bans, disqualifying them from their Ulster Championship rematch.
O’Neill had a hearing tonight but was able to produce a report that convinced the committee the charges did not stand.
O’Neill’s colleagues Stefan Campbell, Ciaran Mackin and colleague Aidan Nugent also had hearings scheduled tonight, while Donegal pair Odhran McFadden Ferry and Neil McGee accepted their suspensions to keep them out of next week’s game.
