There is a significant police presence in the area as the search for the suspect, who is known to the victim, continues, Wales Online Report.
Residents near Gellionen Street have been asked to lock their windows and doors, according to people in the area.
Images appeared to show an ambulance and armed police in the area.
Police have told people in the area to “don’t worry,” according to a nearby resident.
They added that ambulances, rural crime scenes and armed police remained in the area.
The resident said police would not say “what the man looked like”.
Another resident said a large number of police had been in the area near the area since about 5:30 pm.
“We were informed that a man was running around with a knife,” said the resident, who asked not to be named.
“The helicopter appeared again for the third time. The police told us to lock all the windows and doors. This is scary.”
Swansea Police tweeted: “There is a significant police presence in the area as the search for a suspect known to the victim continues.”
The Welsh Ambulance Service has confirmed that they have been called to the incident on request from police.
Two ambulances and a hazardous area response team were among those responding to the incident.
One person was taken to Morriston Hospital, a spokesman said.
