Arnold Schwarzenegger Has No Regrets About His Batman & Robin Role

Although “Batman & Robin” has received slightly higher ratings in the 25 years since its release, most of the movie’s cast members are contentious when it comes to their involvement. George Clooney, who plays Batman/Bruce Wayne, told Variety last year that he wouldn’t show the film to his wife, Amal, saying, “There are some movies I just go, ‘I want my wife to respect me.'” For his part, Schumacher defended much of the film. special features for DVD, but still do the sincere apology for the final film – and continued to apologize for it years later.

However, Schwarzenegger was even less worried about owning his role in “Batman & Robin.” Talking to Empire magazine in 2012, the actor said, “I don’t regret it at all. I found the character to be very interesting and the two films before that one Joel Schumacher was at his prime. So the process came up. The decision hasn’t taken place yet.”

While it’s unclear if Schwarzenegger is referring to Schumacher’s previous Batman film, “Batman Forever” (1995) or 1996’s “A Time to Kill” as representing the height of the director, it’s very true that Schumacher is one popular character in the mid-’90s. However, as Schwarzenegger points out, there was a corporate element to him casting the role of Mr. Freeze, a warning to act like a small curve: “I was doing ‘Eraser’ there and Warner Bros. begged me to make the movie,” he explains.
