Former Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere has signed a short-term contract with Danish league club AGF to end his eight-month stint as a free agent.

Before Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere took part in training with new club AGF for the first time since joining the Danish team on a short-term contract.

The British guy, 30, ended his eight-month stint as a free agent on Sunday with contract until the end of the season with the option for another year.

Wilshere has been without a club since he was liberated by the Championship outfit Bournemouth at the end of last season and was Training with the Gunners for many months to come can’t join Club Como of Italy in the summer.

He was handed the number 10 shirt at AGF – the one he wore for Arsenal – and could make his debut against the Superliga against Vejle on Friday.

Wilshere completed his first training session with his new teammates and coach on Monday at the club’s Fredensvang headquarters.

In the video shared on the official AGF Twitter account, he can be seen receiving the ball and quickly loading it out in a small-sided game with up to three touches per player.

Speaking at Monday’s press conference, Wilshere admitted he was “not quite the right fit” and appeared to want to send a message to his new manager, David Nielsen, by asking him for a few minutes to build strength.

But the former England international, who has 34 caps, acknowledged those he has worked with Arsenal by saying he has “trained for a long time with good players”.

Wilshere also opened up about his conversations with AGF assistant head coach David Reddington, who previously worked with Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace.

“It happened very quickly,” academy graduate Hale End said of the transfer. “I had a chat with one of the coaches, David Reddington. He explained to me about the club, how good it is and how much I like it.

“He worked with someone I worked with, Roy Hodgson, who I enjoyed working with.

“I knew Dave would do the same. Then I spoke to the head coach and really liked what they were saying.

“I’ve always said that in my career I wanted to try something different. I think now is the right time to step out of my comfort zone, step out of England and try something. That’s different.”

Wilshere is understood as earn £5,000 per week at AGFsignificantly less than he was accustomed to pocketing during his career in England.
