James sends a warning Saka

Former England goalkeeper David James believes Arsenal’s best chance of keeping Bukayo Saka at the club is by improving on the pitch.

Speculations have begun to swirl in recent weeks regarding the England international, with Liverpool is said to be ready to contribute capital if contract negotiations between this player and the Gunners continue to stall.

James thinks Arsenal’s position will be strengthened if they play Champions League football next season.

“If [manager Mikel] Arteta starts to show Arsenal can be successful then Saka will have no reason to leave,” he said.

“Liverpool has a different make-up than what he has at Arsenal. If he’s happy at Arsenal and he can see what Arteta wants to do then I don’t see him leaving.”

Gallas gives a “failure” prompt

Former Arsenal defender William Gallas thinks anything less than a top four finish in Premier League This season will be a “failure”.

The Gunners have had a rough start to 2022, although they claimed an uplifting win over Wolves last week to get back on track.

With no European commitments to make, Arsenal have a great chance to overtake the likes of United, Tottenham and West Ham. Gallas argues that doing so represents a minimum requirement for Arteta.

“I know it’s not easy for a lot of clubs like City, Chelsea, United, Liverpool, Tottenham but it doesn’t matter – you have to finish in the top four at least,” he said.

“You have a strong squad with Arsenal, if Arteta isn’t in the top four, he’s failed.”

Henry satisfied with Mbappe’s impression

Kylian Mbappe appeared to imitate Arsenal icon Thierry Henry with a goal celebration against Rennes last weekend.

Before winning his stunning final gasp in a 1-0 win over Real Madrid on Tuesday, Mbappe scored another goal in stoppage time at the Parc des Princes and celebrated by leaning against the corner flag.

It was a similar celebration as Henry did earlier in his career and the former striker said he was delighted to see Mbappe complete it again.

“Do you know why I did that? I was so tired, we were playing in Houston, you’ll know when you play in Houston – 50 degrees, I saw them put the flag and I went ‘a bit too much. away, buddy’ and stay there,” he said.

“But you know why I’m happy? Because my son asked me if I knew Mbappe and I said ‘of course I do’ and he didn’t believe me, so now he does.”
