Arteta dismisses claims the pressure of the top-four race has shifted to Arsenal at the Palace

Arsenal reportedly sent scouts to watch Benfica striker Darwin Nunez battle him Liverpool by doing Champions League at Tuesday evening.

Mikel Arteta will be keen to introduce new attacking options in the summer transfer window, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah increasingly likely to follow ex-captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out the exit door when their contracts expire at the end of the season. And Nunez is reportedly a target for the Gunners as he has already been backed by fellow Uruguayan international Luis Suarez to succeed at the highest level.

Arsenal’s remaining games in the Premier League have been compared to Tottenham Hotspur as their north London rivals battle for last place in the Champions League.

The Spurs overtook the Gunners on Sunday with their 5-1 demolition newcastlebefore Arsenal suffered a 3-0 defeat crystal palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night. Trailing only on goal difference and with one game ahead of Spurs, Mikel Arteta’s side will be crucial in deciding which club finish in the top four this season.

Ceballos rejects criticism

The former Arsenal midfielder has responded to Piers Morgan’s criticism of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Morgan has been particularly outspoken against the Gunners boss after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club during the January transfer window. and real Madrid Midfielder Ceballos, on loan at the Emirates for two seasons, has hit back at the criticism by calling for “patience” from the Gunners boss, whom he described as “very good”.

Arsenal’s scouting mission

Arsenal could be set for a neck-and-neck race Manchester United for Benfica and Uruguay international Darwin Nunez after both clubs reportedly dispatched scouts to watch the striker in the Champions League against Liverpool.

The striker could be available for around £67million during the summer transfer window, with Arsenal reportedly keen to secure his signature. Nunez has scored 21 goals in 23 league games this season and scored again against Liverpool on Tuesday with scouts from United and Arsenal reportedly present.

And the striker has already been joined by Uruguay team-mate Luis Suarez to climb to the top.
