Mikel Arteta has revealed he plans to have Hector Bellerin return to Arsenal next season when his loan spell at Real Betis comes to an end.

The Spaniard ended a 10-year stint in north London when he secured a deadline-day loan move to Los Verdiblancos last summer. He has enjoyed a hugely successful spell with his youth club, which helped them lift their first trophy in 17 years thanks to a win over Valencia in the Copa del Rey final.

Betis also has a chance of qualifying for the Champions League and Bellerin’s impressive performances have sparked rumors that La Liga could sign him for around €10m this summer. However, Arteta has revealed he still plans to see the 27-year-old return to the Emirates next year.

“Every player with a contractual commitment with us, in both directions, is our player and is considered our player,” said the Gunners boss. “Each plan takes into account the possibility (that Bellerin could stay) and how they can fit into our team.”
