Mesut Ozil’s departure from Arsenal was far from pleasant and his agent has since come out and discussed why his client didn’t take a pay cut.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Martinelli has developed since joining the Gunners, making his first senior call-up for Brazil during the current international break. The selection was well deserved and he rewarded coach Tite by being involved in a goal in Brazil’s 4-0 win against Bolivia on Tuesday night.
In-demand Nottingham Forest full-back Djed Spence has given an update on where his next step will be as Arsenal are interested in a summer move.

Özil’s pay cut explained
Mesut Özil was loved deeply by Arsenal fans when he arrived real Madrid 2013 at the end of this summer’s transfer window.
But in the end, the German playmaker was frozen by manager Mikel Arteta and his relationship with the fans had deteriorated dramatically. One reason fans got angry with Ozil was that the player refused to take a pay cut during the game Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020. The majority of players agreed on a 12.5 percent reduction.
And Özil’s agent has since clarified why his client has stuck to his wish to stay on the same pay.
Martinelli’s international role
Gabriel Martinelli burst onto the football scene with his move to Arsenal and made an immediate impact in 2019.
Three years later, the Brazilian is a full member of the first team at just 20 and made his first call-up for Brazil in the recent international break. He made his debut off the bench against Chile last week and did the same against Bolivia on Tuesday night. In his most recent international appearance, the striker was involved in the team’s third goal.
Martinelli’s dedication showed why he is so highly regarded at both club and international level.
Spence’s transfer update
Djed Spence has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in the Championship and has played a key role at Nottingham Forest FA Cup run.
The young England right-back is currently on loan from Middlesbrough but is unlikely to return to his parents’ club given the demand. Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have all expressed interest in acquiring the 21-year-old for around £20million this summer and Spence has given an update on where his next move might be.
The star on loan made his debut for England Under-21s on Tuesday night and said it was his “ambition” to play at the highest level.
