Mikel Arteta assesses Arsenal’s performance against Watford

Mikel Arteta is arguably the perfect midfield addition to partner Thomas Partey at the heart of the team.

Former Gunner’s Favorite Jérémie Aliadière believes Ruben Neves would be the ideal man for Arsenal and would bring in a few traits the team currently lacks.

It comes as the club prepare to make a final decision on the future of William Saliba, with the young defender currently spending the season on loan at Ligue 1 side Marseille.

And Martin Odegaard’s contribution to this team has been questioned by Premier League legends Paul Scholes and Yaya Toure.

Odegaard ‘lucky’

Premier League legends Paul Scholes and Yaya Toure believe Martin Odegaard was quite lucky in Arsenal’s 3-2 win last weekend Watford.

Arsenal took the lead in the fifth minute with Bukayo Saka cutting the ball for Odegaard, who had a masterful finish to score his fifth goal of the season.

But after Odegaard was involved in building the opening goal, Scholes and Toure questioned whether the Norwegian was really meant to pass the ball to his team-mates.

Saliba’s Decision

Arsenal appear poised to give William Saliba the chance to secure his place in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI – and possibly offer the Frenchman a new contract at the club.

Saliba has spent this season on loan at Marseille and the Ligue 1 side are keen to move him there permanently.

But his fine form in France seems to have given the defender a second chance at Arsenal – and the player is said to be keen to prove himself in the Premier League next season.

And Arteta also seems to want to give the young player a chance.

Neves signed the urge

Former Arsenal striker Jérémie Aliadière has urged Mikel Arteta to sign Wolf midfielder Ruben Neves this summer.

The Gunners are said to be launching a new central midfielder in the summer transfer window, with the likes of Ruben Neves, Renato Sanches and Youri Tielemans all being linked with the club in recent times.

But, talk to BonusCodeBetsAliadière argued the case for bringing Neves in.

The Frenchman believes the Portuguese would be a “great addition” as he has a specific trait that Arteta’s side are lacking.
