Mikel Arteta assesses Arsenal’s performance against Watford
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal may still face a nightmare scenario as they finish in the Premier League top four this season – but fail to qualify for Champions League.
The Gunners have found themselves well positioned to finish in the top four after their 3-2 win Watford last weekend as a competitor Manchester United a crushing 4-1 defeat against Man City.
Arsenal’s victory over Watford was largely thanks to Bukayo Saka, who scored and scored as the Gunners left Vicarage Road with three precious points.
Saka’s team-mate Thomas Partey has now sent the winger a message amid recent reports that he is leaving the club.
And Gabriel responded directly to Mikel Arteta’s anger at him and two teammates during Sunday’s game.

Gabriel responded to Arteta’s anger
Arsenal centre-back Gabriel hit out directly at manager Mikel Arteta directing his frustration his way in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Watford.
Martin Odegaard put the visitors ahead before Cucho Hernandez equalized for Watford with a free-kick.
Saka then put Arsenal back into the lead when he fired home after a great combination with Alexandre Lacazette before Gabriel Martinelli scored to make it 3-1.
Moussa Sissoko pulled back a goal in the 87th minute to set up a tense finish but Arsenal held on to take the three points.
But after Bukayo Saka put the Gunners up 2-1, the Spaniard could be seen shouting at Gabriel, Martin Odegaard and Granit Xhaka – and the Brazilian defender is now hands down over the incident.
Saka sent a transfer message
Thomas Partey has sent teammate Bukayo Saka a transfer message after the England international recently revealed his “dream” scenario.
Saka has been linked with moving to Premier League competitor Liverpool in recent times when his contract with the Gunners will expire in 2024.
The winger recently spoke about his future when he insisted that he “dreams” of playing in the Champions League.
And Partey has now sent his team-mates a clear transfer message as the Gunners work to qualify for next season.
Nightmare scenario revealed
Arsenal could still miss next season’s Champions League even if they finish in the top four of the Premier League.
The nightmare scenario would be heartbreaking for Mikel Arteta’s side, who currently sit in fourth – one point ahead of Manchester United in fifth but with three games in the hands of their opponents.
There is still a small chance they could finish fourth and not qualify for next season’s Champions League – but it all depends on how Manchester United and West Ham fares between now and the end of the season.
