Guardiola’s prediction is correct
Pep Guardiola’s prediction about Mikel Arteta earlier in the season has come true.
Arteta’s Arsenal met Guardiola’s City in the third game First League game of the season, but were embarrassed after the 5-0 defeat. But after the game, Guardiola threw his weight behind his opposite number as his former assistant came under intense pressure to lose his job at the Emirates.
But it’s now clear Guardiola’s words couldn’t have been truer after that game.
restructuring plans in detail
Mikel Arteta will look to continue his Arsenal overhaul this summer following his side’s incredible success this season.
The Gunners put their recruitment drive into action last summer and it looks like they did very little wrong despite spending a whopping £142million on new players last year. The likes of Aaron Ramsdale and Takehiro Tomiyasu weren’t necessarily expected to find instant success, but both have influenced Arsenal’s starting XI.
Ben White and Martin Odegaard have both added quality, while Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga have added depth to Arteta’s squad. But the Gunners manager knows at least two more additions are needed and around eight players could depart as he continues to try to mold a team in his image.
Arsenal’s double scouting mission
Arsenal’s scouts were reportedly “impressed” after being sent on a double scouting mission last week to keep an eye on two teenage defenders.
Gunners staff traveled to Spain to see youngsters Cristhian Mosquera and Valencia’s Jesus Vazquez in action for Spain U19s against Austria. But Arsenal weren’t the only ones to send their scouts to watch the pair, with reports pointing to officials real Madrid, Barcelona, juventus, Paris St Germain and Borussia Dortmund were also there.
But with Arsenal hoping to sign the youngsters, there seems to be plenty to get excited about when it comes to the players’ qualities.
