Arsenal have been without midfielder Thomas Partey for the last four games but could get a welcome boost when the race for a Champions League race comes to an end at the end of the season

The Ghanaian midfielder has been out ever since the shocking 3-0 defeat by Crystal Palace in early April. He lasted 75 minutes at Selhurst Park before being withdrawn with a hamstring injury.
While the actual severity of the problem remains to be seen, Gunners boss Arteta hinted so Kieran Tierney, Partey could be confined to the sidelines for the remainder of the campaign. After the impact at the palace, he said: “It’s a bit ambiguous but he has a serious injury and we need to investigate him further.
“He will be [out] for some weeks. It could be [that he can play again this season] but that couldn’t be because it’s an area where he also had a previous injury and he felt it straight away. He’s not fit.”
However, Partey may have inadvertently hinted that he might actually be fit before the end of the season. To his take Instagram story, the Ghanaian shared a video of him running on a treadmill.
Whilst it remains to be seen how long it will be before the 28-year-old is fit enough to return to competition, his potential reinstatement could boost the Gunners’ hopes of finishing with the squad immensely First League top four. As it stands, Arteta’s men are the front runners when it comes to the game Champions League next term with swept aside Manchester United 3-1 last time out.

They are currently fourth, two points clear of their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. However, that could possibly change sooner or later as the two sides will clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next month.
Partey will certainly hope to be involved in a game of this magnitude, having finally emerged as a key player for Arteta since arriving from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in 2020. He has made 26 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners this season, scoring twice.
arsenal immediately missed his presence in the middle of the park as they suffered back-to-back defeats Brighton and southampton. They now reappear on the track, albeit with wins over Chelsea and Manchester United.
Mohammed Elneny has proved a capable substitute in Partey’s absence but the Egyptian may not be an Arsenal player for much longer as his contract expires at the end of the current season. However, he has hinted that he has ambitions to stay at the club.
“I don’t decide who plays, but I keep training to show how good I am and to get him to play me,” he said. “When I’m not playing, I keep going until I get my chance. When Arsenal say ‘we want you’ I don’t think about leaving. It’s my family for six years. I love this club.”
