Arundel: Driver in critical condition after collision with police

A driver has been fatally injured in an accident with a police car on the A27.

The accident happened around 9.30pm last night on the A27 between Fontwell and Arundel.

The car collided with a police car that was helping with a malfunctioning vehicle.

The A27 remains closed for accident investigation work and Sussex Police said it was not known when it would reopen.

The driver of the car was seriously injured and life-threatening.

There were multiple crashes overnight and into the morning as temperatures dropped below freezing.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage that could assist officers in their investigation is asked to email it to Collision.Appeal@sussex.Police.uk, citing Operation Burley.
